The West Valley Arts Education Partnership is a collaborative project between the West Valley Arts Council and four area school districts: Avondale Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Litchfield Elementary, and Agua Fria Union High School. Made possible by the Arizona Community Foundation’s Arts in the Communities Art in the Schools, the partnership will begin its fourth year in January 2007.
In response to the community’s requests to address needs discovered in a Kennedy Center audit, the Council formed The West Valley Arts Education Partnership. WVAC then went to work with each district to create a plan of action. These individual plans formulated what is now known as the Multi-district Arts Plan. Governing boards from the four districts individually and overwhelmingly approved the Plan.
WVAC has hired a Multi-District Arts Director who has met with district administrators, principals and teachers to initiate the process. The goal over the next year is to address professional development for arts educators, validate their contribution to educating our children, and to aid in supporting sustained quality arts education programs in all of our schools.
