Associate Curator of Education
Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, a division of the Scottsdale Cultural Council (SCC), seeks a full-time Associate Curator of Education. Develops, coordinates and implements educational activities designed to promote high-caliber arts education and developmental skills for children, families and adults, with a focus on participatory and hands-on learning. Coordinates and develops VISIONS, Young @ Art Gallery, Arts Days, youth and family programs as appropriate. Has a keen interest in contemporary art, architecture and design and has at minimum a fundamental knowledge of art history.
Has prior experience with Museum education as well as K-12 learning; experience writing curricular guides and lesson plans is a plus. Have knowledge of State arts standards, learning and developmental skills as well as experience in the field; is open to a range of approaches to education, particularly cross-disciplinary contexts. Has experience in working with artists, schools and teachers; possesses an understanding of school issues (such as scheduling, transportation and pressures of mandatory testing) and is able to creatively achieve growth in the Museum's school programs, tours and programs for special-needs audiences. Is a creative thinker and collaborator who can build successful relationships with a network of teachers and peer organizations across the Valley.
Possesses technical knowledge of art media and studio practices; has an interest in and basic understanding of web-delivery and websites. The ability to conceive of and lead hands-on workshops and train docents by preparing materials and art projects for docent tour program. Graduation from a four-year college or university; or four years associated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters Degree in related field is a plus, but not required. Strong grammatical skills and experience with evaluation tools is desired. Must possess good communications skills, good writing skills and good interpretive skills. Attention to detail and strong project-planning and organizational skills are essential.

Performing arts center is seeking creative, self-motivated and energetic program services manager with a strong desire to work with adults and children in a close-knit community while expanding services to surrounding areas. The Webb Center in Wickenburg (55 minutes NW of Phoenix) seeks full time, year-round program services manager to coordinate and develop annual marketing collateral, write and distribute press releases and promotional material, sell advertisement in annual program, maintain and update web site. In addition, candidate should possess savvy on-line marketing skills with ability to stay abreast of that changing climate and new trends. Individual will also work with touring artist and provide event and artist support.
The ideal candidate will possess exemplary writing skills, a Bachelor’s degree in marketing or public relations, verbal, interpersonal and presentation communication skills, the ability to creatively promote and market on limited dollars while working within budgetary guidelines and time deadlines, capacity to work with volunteers and develop volunteer programs while maintaining a high community profile, and a passion for the performing arts. Job requires flexible work schedule with some night and weekend work included. This critical member of our small hands-on team will take charge and pitch in to help the center present the beauty, energy, diversity of the performing arts in a rural community.
The Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts (501©3) is a 600-seat state of the art theatre in Wickenburg, Arizona. The Webb Center presents 27 professional touring shows per year; approximately 40 community events; produces a 2-week arts camp for children and a free arts-in-education series for the regional area.
