ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
MPAC Family Film Festival 2008: A Cultural Literacy Program
Children and families are invited to enjoy the screening of kid-friendly films across Maricopa County during the month of April. The first family film festival in the region is being held at a variety of arts and cultural organizations to give families the opportunity to expand their cultural literacy and enjoy some of the highest quality films available to children.
Every weekend during the month of April, the Maricopa Partnership for Arts and Culture (MPAC) will partner with the Glendale Public Library, Arizona Historical Society Museum, Desert Botanical Garden and Arizona Science Center to feature entertaining kid and family-friendly films related to their current activities at low- or no-cost to movie-goers and visitors. Door prizes and free stickers will be available at some venues.
"This film festival is one way that we are encouraging children and families to experience our region's arts and culture in a way that's entertaining and educational," said Elayne Achilles, MPAC director of education programs. "We're very excited to feature these high quality films as they strongly support the mission of these organizations, while giving participants the opportunity to learn more about history, natural science and literature."
Programming will be provided by KIDS FIRST!, an organization that rates and endorses children's films, in addition to supplying only the finest films available.
